I turned 34 this month. It seemed so daunting because next year I’ll be “middle-aged.” Is this really my last year of youth? I decided that instead of lamenting about my age, I’d think of 34 things I learned about myself, but I had to start and finish the list on my birthday. Here’s my list:
- I am a smart person.
- I am a good mother.
- I wear many hats, and sometimes not by choice.
- I am thankful to be a mother.
- I married my soulmate.
- I am a strong woman.
- I make a difference.
- I am not a neat person.
- I am a good cook.
- I lack organizational skills.
- I can work in chaos and make decisions on the fly.
- I am my kids’ world.
- I am my husband’s favorite person.
- I am still scared to swim.
- I am a good listener.
- I am a crazy cat lady.
- I love weightlifting.
- I have hobbies and interests that don’t involve my family and I do not regret that.
- I trust myself.
- I have a story.
- I am a terrible singer.
- I am altruistic.
- I am a giver to a fault.
- I don’t say “no” as often as I should.
- I love the mountains.
- I love the beach, too.
- I love coffee.
- I love chocolate.
- I am a good friend.
- I am creative.
- I am an optimist.
- I do not regret marrying a soldier.
- I forgive easily, and sometimes too easily.
- I have a hot temper.
